FAQ’s

How does Halo Nock work?

Halo Nock works in “reverse” from all other lighted nocks.  Other brands of lighted nocks require something to shift forward during the shot (such as the bowstring slipping within the nock slot or the nock sliding into the arrow shaft).  The Halo Nock design is more like a standard non-lighted nock, so nothing moves or slides during the shot.  The Halo Nock has an internal spring-loaded plunger that pushes away from the arrow shaft after the bowstring leaves the nock slot.  This means Halo Nock shoots just like a standard non-lighted nock which is huge for accuracy and for switching between lighted nocks and non-lighted nocks.

Does Halo Nock require any special tools to turn off?

No tools required!  No wiggling, pulling, twisting or frustration required!

How do I turn off Halo Nock?

Simply nock the Halo Nock back onto your bowstring and remove it while holding down the side button.  Or better, use the smaller unserved portion of your string.

Note this “two step” feature to turn off Halo Nock means it cannot turn itself off like other lighted nocks do during pass through or upon impact.  It’s so simple you can turn it off with one hand, but since it requires two steps to turn it off, it won’t turn off until you want it to!

Does Halo Nock require any assembly, or special sanding or squaring or preparation of the arrow shaft?

No assembly required.  No sanding or squaring or other special prep of the arrow shaft required.

How do I install Halo Nock?

Just like a standard non-lighted nock.  Remove your old nocks from your arrow (which is a good time to inspect for any shaft damage) and insert the Halo Nock.  Simply align it to your cock fletch as needed and you’re ready to shoot.

Note that both arrows and nocks have manufacturing tolerances, and there are many different brands of arrows each with their own tolerance.  You may encounter nocks fitting slightly more loose or tight in various arrows.  If too loose, check to make sure you have the right nock size for your arrow.  If too tight, it helps to press in with a slight rotation.  You can also apply some string wax to your nock to help the install.

I hate it when lighted nocks turn on when placing them on my bowstring–will my Halo Nock turn on when I nock it on the string?

It’s impossible, no matter how hard you push Halo Nock onto the bowstring, it cannot turn on this way.

I’ve heard that other lighted nocks cause a “mini dry-fire” of the bow, what is a mini dry-fire?

A “mini dry-fire” occurs with other lighted nocks because their nock design requires something to slide forward when you release the bowstring.  Some require the nock to slip within the arrow shaft and others require the bowstring to slide within the nock slot which causes the bowstring to slap the bottom of the nock slot.  These are often called a mini dry fire of the bow because these types of lighted nocks do not allow the full weight of the arrow against the bowstring during the initial release.   The Halo Nock is designed like a standard non-lighted nock and does not cause a mini dry fire of your bow!

How long will Halo Nock stay lit?

Halo Nock stays lit for days and even weeks, it just gets dimmer slowly over time.

Are the batteries replaceable?

Absolutely not.  A replaceable battery in lighted nock is just not worth it.  First, a replaceable battery can come loose much more easily upon impact of the arrow.  Second, the cost of the replacement battery is the most substantial cost of a lighted nock, yet the plastic part of the nock is what needs to be inspected and occasionally replaced in case it was compromised after going through an animal or striking an object.

Do you offer non-lighted practice nocks?

No, we recommend you always practice with what you hunt with.  This eliminates variables and gives you the best chance of success.  Also, a lighted nock used during target practice can help you see issues in arrow flight you might not see with non-lighted nocks.

What size of Halo Nock do I need to fit my arrow?

Micro- fits micro arrow IDs of .165”-.166”

FIT – is a multi-fit package with bushings to fit most common arrow IDs of .204”, .233”, and .244”-.246”

Which color Halo Nock is brightest?  Which color is best?

It all depends on your eyes.  Our red, pink, and green LEDs are all comparable in brightness, but your eyes may favor one color more than the other.  If hunting, we recommend red or pink instead of green because red and pink provide the most contrast against the many green colors found in nature.  Blue is the least bright LED, but it isn’t offered for its brightness–it’s available for those who are color blind, since they likely can’t see red or green colors as well.

How much does a Halo Nock weigh?

The Halo Nock is the lightest weight lighted nock on the market.  The weight depends on what size nock you need to fit your diameter of arrows:

Our Micro .166” ID arrows weighs only 14.5 grains.

What are BriteSpot Target Lights?

BiteSpot’s are super bright LEDs that you pin onto your target to aim at.  This helps you see your target at long ranges, even during the middle of the day, as well as allowing you to practice at night.  The BriteSpot Target Lights help you improve your accuracy, while adding a new element of fun to your practice!

How do the BriteSpot Target Lights save me money?

The BriteSpot Target Light helps you extend both your arrow life and target life.  Your arrow life is extended by allowing you to shoot at different BriteSpot Target Lights, which avoids arrow slap.  Your target life is extended by providing an unlimited number of new areas to shoot at on your target.  If you start wearing out one area on your target, just pin the BriteSpot in another location.

How do you turn the BriteSpot Target Light on and off?

Simply install the battery (small end first) into the plastic housing.  Press the battery in firmly to turn on and pull out slightly to turn them off.  We’ve included some battery sleeves to help grip the battery (you can choose to glue them on or not).

What if I have a direct hit with the BriteSpot?

The BriteSpot Target Lights are molded out of the “bullet proof” plastic so it can take many impacts before failure.  Also, the BriteSpot’s are pointed (like a field or target point looking back at you) so that it will deflect when it encounters the point of your arrow.  A helpful tip, when you pin the BriteSpot onto your target, try to let them stick out as much as possible rather than pin them deep into your target.  When pinned deep into your target, they have less room to deflect.

Can I use broadheads when shooting at my BriteSpot Target Light?

Yes, but just like when shooting broadheads into a target, the target and/or BriteSpot will wear out faster.

How long will my BriteSpot Target Light stay lit?

The BriteSpot will stay lit for days and even weeks, it just gets dimmer slowly over time.

Are the batteries replaceable BriteSpot?

Yes, you can buy replacement batteries here.

Which color of the BriteSpot Target Light is the brightest?  Which color is best?

It all depends on your eyes.  Our red and green LEDs are comparable in brightness, but your eyes may favor one color more than the other.  We recommend getting both red and green because often your sights will have both red and green sight pins.  For example, a red sight pin will have the most contrast when aiming at a green BriteSpot, but a red sight pin may be less visible when aiming at a red BriteSpot.

Will it work on both my foam target and bag target?

Yes.  For a foam target, just pin it directly into the foam. For a bag target that has loose fill, we have added a “hump” to the BriteSpot pin.  This hump is designed to help you hang the BriteSpot on the bag targets skin/cover.
